A 17th-century fortress and National Heritage site in central Cape Town.

Description

Known locally as “The Castle”, the Castle of Good Hope is the oldest surviving colonial structure in South Africa, built between 1666 and 1679 by the Dutch East India Company.

Today it houses nine boutique museums, daily guided tours, cannon-firing ceremonies, key-unlocking rituals, and hosts cultural events and exhibitions that explore colonial, military and human-rights history.
